Our inaugural competition was amazing, with over 14,000 blogs being nominated and over 300,000 votes cast. Blogs under consideration in the Blogger's Choice Awards were nominated by the fans themselves; readers were able to vote for as many blogs as they wished, in multiple categories, as long as they adhered to the competition's rules and regulations. The competition spawned a number of global grassroots promotional efforts, as readers campaigned for their favorite blogs.
Rosie O'Donnell, who won in the Celebrity Blogger category for her blog Rosie.com, said "It's better than the Oscar, to me." Rosie first started promoting her blog's nomination on ABC's "The View" back in April. Her fans responded with the most votes of any blog. Other celebrities, such as Perez Hilton, star of VH1's "What Perez Sez", won three awards including Best Gossip Blog, Most Obnoxious Blogger and Worst Blog of all Time.
We are now looking for sponsors for the 2008 event. The site is current accepting early voting, and a new site design for 2008 will go live in January.

Randy, David, Dan, and I attended AD:TECH NYC earlier this week. Randy, Dan, and I worked the booth while David walked around engaging other exhibitors.
The event went extremely well as we engaged many potential advertisers that were interested in Izea's suite of products. The new corporate identity was very well received and MANY people were excited to learn about our new product offering being released in the next few days
Later today we will be introducing a new blog category that our Posties and Advertisers alike can use. It is 'Autos' (for automotive). You may have noticed we've had several Opportunities in the past that focused on auto supplies, auto insurance, and even purchasing the right car. We also have many Posties with an interest in autos that they share on their blogs.
Now that topic has grown to the point within PayPerPost to need its very own category, and we're happy to bring that to you!
Advertisers, please remember: You don't want to start a new Opportunity right away and select 'autos' as your only category. Posties are getting access to this category at the same time you are, and they can only update their categories once every 30 days. So the Posties will begin using the new category today, but you'll see more and more folks using it in the weeks to come.
For now, it would be a great idea to include a few other categories along with auto if auto is your focus. But as many of you already know - it's often a good idea to include multiple categories. Keep in mind both the Postie who is writing the blog, and the readers who view it!
