Performancing Deal is Off
After much discussion and heartache we have decided to walk away from the Performancing deal. We listened to our Posties and other Metrics users, dug into the Metrics platform and regretfully found that it wasn't what we were looking for right now.

The decision has been made by Nick at Performancing to make the Metrics platform Open Source and I believe that is a wise decision. Nick is a great guy and I wish him much luck with the other aspects of Performancing.com. Nick did what he could to keep the hosted version of Metrics running, but in the end it just wasn't a fit.

We will be seeking another analytics solution to integrate into the PayPerPost marketplace. If your company offers a robust analytics solution with consistently accurate data reporting please feel free to drop us a line. We are very interested in partnerships and would love to find a service we can endorse and bring to our Posties.

Thanks for letting us know. Hard as it is to not be able to realize something you'd hoped would work out so well, I'm glad you stepped back and did right by the posties. Having very little tech knowledge I didn't know first hand, but having heard a few of the comments being given on the forum I was worrying some. It's great to know that you're looking out for us, and making sure what Payperpost gets involved in is the best quality resource it can be.

I'm sorry it didn't work out. I'm going to miss using the metrics having tried and gotten frustrated with the recommended use of the new feedburner metrics.

Kudos for knowing when to get out and doing it gracefully.

I've only been part of a couple of acquisitions and financing deals, but don't you normally do due diligence before you buy a company, not after you've announced it?

You really are something, you know it? I really appreciate you and all you do. I'm sorry this didn't work out, but, I'm sure something else will come along that will be a better fit. Thank you for listening and digging deeper before taking action.

It's too bad that it didn't work out, but it's better for Payperpost to have figured out that it didn't work for them now rather after the deal went through. I've voiced my opinion that I thought Metrics needed to be worked on to deliver more accurate results, but I also thought that the great PPP team would have been able to fix it and make it work for all. Techcrunch.com is of course having a heyday over this news. :(

Thank you! I admire you for walking away from an announced deal that is wrong for PPP. I'm sure the right analytics service will come along.

Well considering I am not terribly impressed with the metrics system either I am pleased to see that PPP have backed away from it all. Its a shame things when pear-shaped after the announcement but its good to see PPP paying attention & keep its loyal posties informed.

Good choice in backing away from a source that has been lacking for awhile.

I give y'all another couple of months before the whole good ship goes down. And anyone who thinks this late in the game is "graceful" and "did right" doesn't know how acquisitions work. They don't work like this.

Although I'm glad to see you have decided to back out- I was hoping PPP could work on Performancing to make it what it should be. Nick's decision to make it open source is a wise move- it could be a very powerful force when it came to metrics, if there weren't so many bugs. As far as Tech Crunch goes-do they have nothing better to do other than discuss PPP? There ARE other news stories they could be discussing. And to Marsupilami: no one thought Google would make it either. Take that and chew on it for a while.
