Attention Advertisers : Keep It Real
I already did a post on this, but that was two months ago. I want to stress the importance of keeping opportunities neutral for advertisers. While I know the concept sounds a bit scary, if you give Posties (our bloggers) an opportunity to be completely open you will get higher quality posts and more posties will take your opportunity.

Posties definitely prefer neutral opportunities. When we advertise PPP through our own system we make all our opps neutral. While we occasionally get a comment with a slight sting the overwhelming majority of Posties are fair, balanced and constructive. One of the great benefits of the PPP platform is your ability to gather feedback from those that take your opportunity. Think of it as advertising with the benefit of an online focus group.

I encourage you to read each post and leave comments on Posties blogs. Let them know you hear them and want to make your product, service or website better with their feedback.

I love being able to be positive or negative in my postings - or lukewarm if need be. It just goes to prove that PPP give us a CHOICE in how we present things to our readers.

I really like seeing this as I avoid many opportunities simply because the advertiser expects me to lay it on too thick.Advertisers also need to realize that even though some SEO expert is telling them to make us use certain keywords, that SEO expert may not know a thing about good writing practices and I for one, don't need anyone else's choice of keywords to make me look stupid.Did that come out right or do I look stupid again? ;-)

It's definitely a guilty pleasure to write your honest opinion. I'll always choose an honest opportunity over a slanted one any day.

I think is the part that Calacanis hates so much, that the system is open. Nobody is putting a gun to our heads and having us post these things.

I definately agree with you! If advertiser only want positive comments, they will never know the truth if they have some weakness that they need to work on to make other people happy. It is very important to know what people think. So Keep it neurtal. I wouldn't take any opportunity if I feel that advertiser is not good for me.

If an advertiser isn't confident enough in their product to ask for a neutral post, then I look elsewhere for an opportunity. And bloggers are also readers of other blogs, if they see a topic where the product is trash and it's being overhyped, they will slam it, backfiring on the advertiser.

So far I've only taken opportunities with neutral tone requirements. I always disclose that it's a PPP post, and I want my readers to know I'm offering my honest opinions. Being constrained to use only a positive tone, or to use certain keywords and phrases doesn't usually doesn't work for me, and I choose my opportunities accordingly.
